Cannabis For Your Face?!

Nowadays everything seems to be CBD! And would have ever guessed cannabis would have such amazing health benefits for your skin also! I first heard about a cannabis facial from the lovely ladies at Clean Start in Miami where I came across Lex, the esthetician, who had been showing her amazing before and after photos from the CBD facial. My skin is mostly hormonal, meaning every few weeks I’ll tend to get a bit of a breakout, which will then go away once my hormones are back to normal. It just so happened I was going through this phase when I went in to see Lex, who gave me this CBD facial and let’s just say, I was glowing!

The whole experience was luxurious, relaxing and I felt like my skin was getting so many amazing benefits from the different treatments Lex did. Lex used a fresh batch of natural, vegan and organic products during my facial which had a combined 2,000mg of CBD. CBD is used in skincare to help rebalance your skin and has been known to help those with rosacea, eczema and hormonal acne. During my facial, I had everything from extractions, exfoliating mask, moisturizing mask, light therapy, and a facial massage. And once the facial was over I felt in such a state of relaxation and I could tell my skin was glowing from the inside out.

My Transformation

Transformations physically, mentally and most importantly… for this blog.

It’s been quite a hot minute since I’ve dabbled in the blogging world, but I am making a conscious effort to start it back up, and this time with a lot more thought and meaning behind each post. Bye to the days of meaningless outfit posts and hello to what really goes on in this interesting world I live in. Of course, I may throw in a few outfits that I can’t help but share. But I’ve always had a passion for writing and I love being able to put some more personality into my blogging.

Which leads me into my first post, and one that I never imagined I would be making. As you may know, I’ve lived in Miami for about 3 years now and I would not want to live anywhere else. But of course, living in Miami, it’s easy to get drawn into the unrealistic beauty standards. I’ve never had any major insecurities about my looks or even had a thought cross my mind about plastic surgery or physical alterations of any sort. Perhaps a little tattoo or piercing, but I was even skeptical of those. Until… I ended up working for an extremely talented plastic surgeon here in Miami, Dr. Rian Maercks. How I ended up there is an interesting story in itself, but today I just want to share my transformation, because I think it’s pretty darn amazing.

Whenever we typically think of filler, we think of big duck lips and giant, overfilled chipmunk cheeks, which I personally do not find attractive. Quickly after spending a few weeks at this new job of mine, it was clear that what Dr. Rian A. Maercks was doing, with filler, was a completely different story. We would have gorgeous supermodels walk through our doors, looking perfect, and end up leaving even more perfect. He likes to use the phrase “unlocking your inner beauty” which is the perfect way to describe it.

(Sidenote: I feel compelled to say that I did not have any push or outside reasons for sharing this story, besides the fact that I think I look dope AF and find this sort of stuff interesting. k thanks.)

So let’s just go ahead and fast forward some months later, after 21 syringes/CC’s/ml’s of hyaluronic acid filler, in my face, later. Woahhhh 21! Yeah, it’s a lot of filler compared to pretty much everyone else in the world, but the magician, aka Dr. Maercks, has the most crazy, artistic and amazing technique, that requires a buttload more volume, to give you a very natural result. Okay, you can read about it here, because I just want to get to the fun part already, the before and afters!

All of these photos are completely unfiltered/unaltered in any way. In both before and after I am wearing no makeup, I am in the same room and taken with the same camera. And you’ll for sure notice my hormonal acne was cured, also thanks to Dr. Maercks and his acne protocol

IMG_0525IMG_0526IMG_0527

So let’s do a kind of breakdown of sorts, although these numbers are estimates.

My eyes, nose, lips, and chin all have filler.

My eyes and temples have about 10CC’s of filler in total (5CCs each side) this removed my undereye bags, filled in the hollow of my temples, lifted my brows, lifted my cheeks, thinned the appearance of my face and took away from the heaviness of my cheeks.

My nose has around 5CCs of filler in total. He made my nose longer, to fit my face better, made it more straight, boosted out the base to give me more tip projection, and hide my nasal labial folds a little more. And he gave me a more pointed, lifted and overall cutest nose ever. (I’m totally obsessed with his liquid rhinoplasty’s, and am dying for more!)

My lips have about 4CCs in total. 2CCs were injected into the pink of my lips (per my request) for bigger, juicier lips and the other 2CCS were placed around the border of my lips and my cupids bow to blend it with the rest of my face.

My chin has about 2CCs of filler to boost out my chin and blend it with my lips and nose. This also disguised my little turkey gobbler a little more. (Also another thing I’m obsessed with.)

One common question is regarding pain and whether it hurts. First off, yes, there are needles being stuck into your face. But it’s honestly so painless, the only part that is a little more tender is the tip of the nose. Aside from that, your face actually gets super numb, it’s more of a weird feeling than pain. And recovery for me is very minimal, I do not swell that much and I hardly bruise, but others can have different experiences than mine of course.

Now after seeing all of the volume that was put in my face, one would think it would be obvious. But some of my friends and family still say they can’t really notice a difference. And my dad was never able to tell, until this blog post of course.

So this concludes my first blog post of 2019, a little late, but I’ll do my best to share more.

Everything You Need to Know About Microblading

I’m sure most of you have heard about micro blading by now, a technique used to make your brows look naturally fuller and shaped, without having to fill them in!

Microblading defined is “ a form of semi-permanent makeup that provides a means to partially or fully camouflage missing eyebrow hair with the appearance of simulated hair using fine deposits of cosmetic tattoo pigments.”

I’ve been hesitant to try Microblading, because I heard of stories where the eyebrows ended up looking like a mess, or was under the impression it would be painful. And boy was I wrong!

A couple of months ago I spoke with Anna, from Perfect Brows by Anna, and she walked me through the process and what to expect. I was still hesitant on the procedure and gave myself several weeks to decide wether or not I wanted to try. Never having to fill in my brows again was a dream come true! After following Anna and seeing the amazing work she did, I decided I would give it a go. And boy am I pleased with the results!

I shared my experience on my Instagram and so many of my lovely followers were impressed and amazed at the job Anna did. I had so many questions about the procedure that I wanted to make a full post talking all about Microblading.

What to expect

The procedure took about an hour and a half. Time may vary depending on how much strokes need to be put in your brow to create the proper shape. Every brow and every person is different, but the hour and a half it took me flew by. I will also be going in for my touch up, a month after the initial treatment.

The pain is very minimal. I was expecting it to feel more like when you get your brows threaded or tweezed, but it was honestly even less painful then both. Anna does not use numbing cream because it causes the skin to get soft and mushy which can lead to the technician creating too deep of strokes which may lead to scarring or other unwanted outcomes. I also did not bleed.

How it works. Anna used a very very small utensil that has 18 or 19 tiny little needles used to scratch and place pigment into the skin.

The sound. There is a Velcro like sound during the process. The sound comes from your eyebrow hair gliding between the tiny needles and also the sound of your skin being scratched.

Final Thoughts

I am so so so pleased with the work Anna did, and I would highly recommend her to anyone looking to get their brows done. The process was much easier than I anticipated and there was hardly any pain at all. After working with Anna, I do not think there is another technician out there who I would feel comfortable with. Her work was superb and I’m so excited with my new brows! Check her out here.

Current To Die For | Beauty Products

Happy holidays! I hope everyone, who celebrates, had an amazing Thanksgiving spent with those dearest to you.

One thing, and one of the only things, I dislike about this time of year is the proximity between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Does anyone else wish we had a little bit more time between each holiday?!

That aside, I figured it was about time to share with you all my to die for products. And may I just say, these last few months I have stumbled across some pretty amazing beauty products, that will for sure be in my routine for quite a while.

First and foremost, I just HAVE to talk about Sunday Riley. For the past year or so, I’ve seen and heard of the brand Sunday Riley from so many beauty gurus across the internet, but never actually went out to try the product. And I finally caved and purchased the Sulfur Mask and Good Genes Lactic Acid Treatment. And let me just say, after a few days my skin had transformed. Sunday Riley is a bit pricey, but the Good Genes is well worth it, and I’m dying to try more products from their range!

Another one of my amazing new finds is Tan-Luxe products! For times when I don’t get a chance to enjoy the amazing Miami sun, (which is quite a lot of the time) it’s nice to have something that still allows me to keep that glow. Tan-Luxe has to be my all time favorite self tan company. None of their products stain, I get that amazing, to die for, glow, and they offer sooooo many different products! My absolute favorites from them is their “The Gloss,” which I’ve added into my makeup routine as a glowy bronzer, and it’s stunning! And one of their self tan lotions, “The Butter.” The Butter is one of the most beautiful lotions everrrr, it gives your skin that amazing shimmer, like you jumped right out of an Edward Cullen vampire film (but with a much nicer tan.) I’ll definitely be keeping these two products in my beauty cabinet all winter!

And lastly I’ve been loving my new foundation stick by Vapour. (I am shade 135 medium tan) I am usually one to stick to matte finish foundation, but this foundation stick has completely changed my mind. I’m absolutely obsessed with the glowy and healthy look it gives my skin. Pair this foundation with the Tan-Luxe “The Glow” and your skin will look like a goddess.

Budder Me Up

I know we have all heard of the amazing benefits that coconut oil can have on your health, wether for your hair, skin, nails, teeth, seems like there’s a millions uses for coconut oil. And I’ll be the first to admit, I’m addicted. And when I found out about Oil Me North’s amazing coconut oil, hemp oil, essential oil, concoctions, I was all over it. Our skin is the largest organs on our body, so I thinks it’s important to take care of it! Especially if you’re in the sun all the time like myself.

One of my favorite things to use is essential oils, and to mix my two favorite oils into one, is a dream.

Oil Me North has several different concoctions targeted towards different things. Such as their Sun Budder, which enhances your tan and their Original Super Budder which is great for every use!

My absolute favorite Budders are the Original and the Muscle and Joint Budders.

Original Super Budder

This is one of my favorite Budders because it is great for so many uses. You can use it for problematic skin, or to nourish your body. And not to forget, the lavender and rose essential oils give it a fresh and relaxing scent. I love to have products that can be used for multiple functions, saves money and saves space! These Budders are also great to use as a natural and gentle makeup remover!

Muscle and Joint Budder

This is one of my other favorites because the oils, such as peppermint and eucalyptus have a cool and refreshing feel on the skin. The benefits of this budder are some of my favorite because it’s great for reducing inflammation, hence why it’s great to use after a workout if your muscle are sore and tired.

Summer Preperation

Today’s post was inspired by the incredibly hot, hundred degree weather we are experiencing in South Beach.

Summer is just around the corner and it’s always nice to get prepared ahead of time. So I’ve linked some of my favorite summer products to keep you glowy this season! As well as some of my favorite summer tips.

Glowy skin//

My absolutely favorite product for glowy skin is bio oil! You can use it all over your body as well as your face, to give your skin that extra boost and moisture it craves.

I’ve also made up my own concoction of body oil. Inside i mixed coconut oil // vitamin e oil // green tea tree oil // rose hip oil // bio oil. I use this little concoction before bedtime to allow my skin to absorb all of the amazing vitamins and  nutrients!

SPF! SPF! SPF! I’ve always used SPF on my face because I was always told that you needed too. But recently I’ve realized just how important it is. That being said, I’ll never go a day without SPF on my face. If I do miss a day, I’ll notice a complete difference in my skin and pigmentation. My favorite is Dermalogica SPF 50.

Summer tip//

Join a gym that has a variety of class, to allow you to mix up your routine and stay motivated! I recently joined my local Equinox gym, and I’m absolutely obsessed! Gotta get summer beach body ready, am I right?!

Drink lots of water! I try to drink at least a gallon a day, and I notice a huge difference from drinking lots of water. Benefits I’ve experienced are, flatter tummy, healthy skin, energy and appetite control. I mean, our bodies are mostly made of water, so shouldn’t we try to drink lots of it? 😛

Frank Body Review

A couple months ago I was pleasantly surprised to find a beautifully packaged pink and white box outside of my door. And inside the box was even more cute packaged goodies! Frank had paid me a visit and I was not mad about it. 🙂IMG_0122

I was sent the Frank Body original Coffee Body Scrub and Body Balm. First off let me just say I am a huge fan of these products because of their all natural and vegan ingredients.

Their body scrub is made with Coffee Beans, Almond Oil, Vitamin E oils and Sea Salt. And their body balm is a mixture of Coconut Oil, Grape Seed Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Coffee Arabica Seed Oil and Beeswax. All stuff that we can actually understand and I’m all about those natural ingredients!

So besides the cute packaging and amazing ingredients, the products themselves have worked wonders for my skin.

The Scrub
I have relatively normal skin with a few breakouts here and there and a little bit of hyperpigmentation. I would use the coffee scrub about 2x a week as a deep exfoliator. I can instantly notice the texture of my skin smoothens, my skin appears brighter and my face is baby soft. My random breakouts have gone down and my skin feels overall more healthy, and not to forget the smell is incredible!

I have recently started using the body scrub for a few stretch marks that I have developed, so I will definitely keep you posted with any results I see!

frankbod

The Balm
The body balm is also a great product and very moisturizing. Though I would recommend only using it at night, as it does not soak into the skin very quickly. Since it has so many natural oils, it takes quite longer than a regular lotion to set. That being said, apply this stuff all over before bed and you will definitely have baby soft skin by the morning.

I am so in love with both of these products that I am itching to try some of their new stuff. Especially their peppermint body scrub, yum!!

Check out the rest of their stuff at Frank Body!
