Summer PreperationĀ

Today’s post was inspired by the incredibly hot, hundred degree weather we are experiencing in South Beach.

Summer is just around the corner and it’s always nice to get prepared ahead of time. So I’ve linked some of my favorite summer products to keep you glowy this season! As well as some of my favorite summer tips.

Glowy skin//

My absolutely favorite product for glowy skin is bio oil! You can use it all over your body as well as your face, to give your skin that extra boost and moisture it craves.

I’ve also made up my own concoction of body oil. Inside i mixed coconut oil // vitamin e oil // green tea tree oil // rose hip oil // bio oil. I use this little concoction before bedtime to allow my skin to absorb all of the amazing vitamins and  nutrients!

SPF! SPF! SPF! I’ve always used SPF on my face because I was always told that you needed too. But recently I’ve realized just how important it is. That being said, I’ll never go a day without SPF on my face. If I do miss a day, I’ll notice a complete difference in my skin and pigmentation. My favorite is Dermalogica SPF 50.

Summer tip//

Join a gym that has a variety of class, to allow you to mix up your routine and stay motivated! I recently joined my local Equinox gym, and I’m absolutely obsessed! Gotta get summer beach body ready, am I right?!

Drink lots of water! I try to drink at least a gallon a day, and I notice a huge difference from drinking lots of water. Benefits I’ve experienced are, flatter tummy, healthy skin, energy and appetite control. I mean, our bodies are mostly made of water, so shouldn’t we try to drink lots of it? šŸ˜›

Top 5 Skin Care Superfoods

7543200_origSuffering from dry, cracked or acne prone skin? Or do you want to combat the signs of aging with natural skincare remedies? Then you’ve come to the right place! Here are five of the top recommendations for theĀ best skincare superfoods. Consume these super-foods on a regular basis or use them topically within moisturisers, cleansers or face masks to benefit from softer, smoother, and eminently younger looking skin.

1 | Pineapple

If you suffer from a skin condition such as acne, eczema or inflammation then eating pineapple on a weekly basis could completely revitalise your complexion because the active ingredient within pineapple is bromelain; a natural proteolytic enzyme. This particular enzyme is extremely effective at removing dead surface skin cells, reducing swelling and combating inflammation. Eating pineapple as part of a balanced diet, or by using skincare products which contain pure pineapple extract, you can benefit from these exfoliating properties of bromelain and achieve softer, more hydrated skin.

2 | Tomatoes

If you love sunbathing but wish to prevent your skin from premature aging and UV damage then it is strongly recommended that you increase you tomato intake. After all, as skincare experts TCClinic highlight, the beauty boosting ingredient in tomatoes is lycopene, a type of carotenoid which provides your skin cells with comprehensive protection against UV rays. What’s more, if you cook tomatoes before eating them then your body will be four times to absorb the lycopene within them compared to eating raw tomatoes!

3 | Chia seeds

Nuts and seeds are a great source of healthy fats, fibre and protein. However, when asked to pick one of these super-foods above all others we have to highlight the benefits of chia seeds. Despite their small stature, these seeds are bursting with omega 3 fatty acids, manganese, zinc, calcium, magnesium and antioxidants amongst other essential nutrients. As a result, by consuming chia seeds on a regular basis you can hydrate your skin with essential healthy fats. What’s more, if you apply chia seeds topically you can combat fine line formation and benefit from their efficient anti-inflammatory properties.

4 | Pomegranate

If you are looking for a super-food which will combat the effects of prolonged sun exposure then pomegranate could offer the ideal solution for you! This is due to the fact that the seeds extracted from this unique fruit are an exceptional source of ellagic acid; a polyphenol compound which efficiently prevents the breakdown of collagen within skin cells as well as inhibiting the inflammation caused by UVB rays. In fact, numerous studies have shown that incorporating pomegranate seeds within your diet can protect your skin from premature aging and safeguard against the long term damage caused by prolonged sun exposure.

5 | Kale

No skincare superfoods list would be complete without praising the benefits of kale! This particular wild cabbage plant boasts a wealth of health benefits for your entire body. As skincare specialist Dr Pauline Hili explains, kale is a super-food which contains high levels of vitamins A, C, E and K. Dr Hili also advocates how the topical addition of these vitamins in the form of kale based skincare products can be up to 100 times more effective for re-invigorating the skin, reducing the appearance of wrinkles, promoting healing and reducing puffiness than other skin care methods. In this manner, eating kale on a daily basis and using skin care products infused with kale extract can significantly improve the condition of your skin as well as your overall health.

Fun Tip Friday: Tips for Healthy Skin

helahtyskin
This weeks fun tip is about your skin!

My tips are usually based around our skin, and that is because having healthy skin Ā is important and it boosts confidence! I’m going to share a few tips that I have learned throughout the years that seem to help. šŸ™‚

Tip 1:
Always wash your face in the morning and night. Do not sleep in your makeup ever! If you had a long night and are too lazy to wash your face with a cleanser, at least use a face wipe. I have learned from past experience that going to bed without washing your face can easily cause a breakout in the morning.

Tip 2:
Allow each serum to completely set before applying another. For my daily skin care routine I use a lot of different items. So if you apply multiple serums make sure to let each individual serum sit on your skin for at least a full minute before applying your moisturizer or another serum. This allows your skin to absorb more of the good stuff.

Tip 3:
Use a serum! If you do not use a serum, you should! They are great ways to target specific problem areas with your skin. I believe the serum is one of the most important parts to my skincare routine. I tend to use a brightening serum to reduce any discoloration on my skin. But they have serums to target any problem you may have with your skin.

Tip 4:
Everyone knows this, but always wear a SPF. I use SPF15 every single day, wether I am going to be outside or not. I have a fairly darker skin complexion so I tend to use a lower SPF, but any bit helps! Wearing SPF will help protect your fragile skin from the sun, and It helps protect your skin from aging as fast. ( I luckily do not have that problem yet)

I hope you found these tips helpful! I know a few may be some pretty common things heard around the beauty world, but they really do make a difference!

What other tips do you have?

xoxo

Skin Saver

It is important that we are taking good care of our skin. Good skin = confidence. People should not rely on makeup to feel confident about themselves. But if you have blemish prone skin, it can lead people to feel like they need makeup to cover it up.
I am always looking to try new skin products and this week I invested in Rose Hip Seed Oil. I found mine at a Marshalls in the skin department and I have been loving it so far.

I have normal to oily skin, so putting oil on you skin might seem a little scary. But I honestly can’t even tell its on my skin, as long and you don’t overload on oil.
I have had a little breakout this week, and this little guy have been saving my skin!

I highly recommend trying some!

You can find Rose Hip Seed Oil fairly cheap on amazon.com (here)

Favorite Face Masks

mask 3

I am a girl who loves trying new skin care products, especially face masks.

And I have found two exceptionally great facial masks that I’ve incorporated into my skin routine for the past couple of months, and I have noticed a HUGE difference!

mask 2

The first facial mask was one I picked up at a Hand and Stone spa, the Rehab Mediterranean Detoxifying Mud Mask.

This mask is very strong, so I usually do not cover my whole face but rather I use it like a spot treatment. If I am having a few problem areas, I use this mask on the particular spot, once a day for ten minutes. After a few days the problem has completely disappeared! This product was $25, but since I use it more like a spot treatment, this could last for around 6 months.

mask1

This next mask is one a few of you may be familiar with as it is one of The Body Shop’s top rated items. This tea tree face maskĀ has such an amazing cooling effect on the skin and visibly reduces any redness on my skin instantly. I use this mask about twice a week, as it is perfect for those hot summer days when you want to cool down and relax.

I actually found out about this mask after purchasing a sample pack from the counter at Sephora. I love picking up a few small sample packs every time I stop by. It is a quick and cheap way to test out a product before deciding to purchase it.

Thanks!
