Using Laser Skin Tightening to Revitalize Your Skin | Informational

Hi guys! I wanted to share a little more informational post with you all today. Skin care and anti aging products/treatment is always something to think about, no matter your age. I’ve noticed a lot more talk about certain anti aging treatments and wanted to share a little more research for anyone asking the same questions as myself.

Your skin is your body’s largest organ. It is also the only organ which is constantly exposed to the outside elements. You might think it is those elements that causes your skin to loosen and sag as you get older, and they certainly are contributing factors. However, no matter how carefully you protect your skin you are bound to suffer from wrinkles and sages eventually. When you do, one option for revitalizing your skin is to book a laser skin tightening appointment. But before you attempt laser skin tightening there are several things you must consider.

Why Skin Tightening with Lasers Works so Well
One thing you need to know is why laser skin tightening is so popular and tends to produce such good results. The reason the procedure works is that the laser beam is able to disrupt skin cells enough to trigger repair responses within the body. Also, the laser beam has an added ability to get existing collagen to tighten, drawing skin cells closer together. Between strengthening the existing collagen and causing more to be produced, the skin becomes tighter over time.

Of course, the effects of laser skin tightening are not always immediately obvious. When you undergo a tightening procedure with medical lasers the healing processes which are triggered can take quite a while to show their full effects. However, the gradual strengthening of your skin after treatment will help to reduce your wrinkles and skin sags.

Having a Laser Treatment Consultation with a Clinician
Prior to making an appointment to have your skin tightened with lasers you must first consult with the skincare clinician. During the consultation the entire procedure will be explained to you, and the clinician will also determine whether or not you are a good candidate for the process. Typically, in order to be a good laser skin tightening candidate you must have mild to moderate wrinkles and not suffer from severe acne or certain other skin conditions. In order to qualify as a good laser treatment candidate your skin should also not be excessively oily because those oils can burn easily when exposed to a laser beam.

Side Effects of Laser Treatments for Wrinkles
When it comes to side effects of laser treatments, the most you should have to worry about is mild swelling. Any redness or swelling should subside within a day or so after the procedure. Your skin may also be extra sensitive for a week or two after treatment, and it may require special protection from the sun. Severe side effects, such as burns, are unlikely because clinicians typically will not perform laser skin tightening on candidates who are at high risk for such side effects.

The Process of Having a Laser Treatment
When you go to your local skincare clinic for a laser treatment you will be told ahead of time how to prepare for the appointment. Typical instructions will include not wearing any perfumes or other skin products on that day. When you arrive, your clinician will use the laser device to treat the skin on the portion of your body which has been designated for treatment. The laser device will heat your skin, but the clinician will use cooling blasts of air to help keep you comfortable throughout the procedure. If you experience any severe discomfort you can tell your clinician right away and he or she will make you more comfortable.

After your initial laser skin tightening appointment you may see some improvement. However, it is unlikely that your skin will improve dramatically right away. Your clinician will tell you ahead of time approximately how many sessions may be required to improve your results to the desired level.

Summer Preperation 

Today’s post was inspired by the incredibly hot, hundred degree weather we are experiencing in South Beach.

Summer is just around the corner and it’s always nice to get prepared ahead of time. So I’ve linked some of my favorite summer products to keep you glowy this season! As well as some of my favorite summer tips. 

Glowy skin// 

My absolutely favorite product for glowy skin is bio oil! You can use it all over your body as well as your face, to give your skin that extra boost and moisture it craves. 

I’ve also made up my own concoction of body oil. Inside i mixed coconut oil // vitamin e oil // green tea tree oil // rose hip oil // bio oil. I use this little concoction before bedtime to allow my skin to absorb all of the amazing vitamins and  nutrients!

SPF! SPF! SPF! I’ve always used SPF on my face because I was always told that you needed too. But recently I’ve realized just how important it is. That being said, I’ll never go a day without SPF on my face. If I do miss a day, I’ll notice a complete difference in my skin and pigmentation. My favorite is Dermalogica SPF 50.


Summer tip//

Join a gym that has a variety of class, to allow you to mix up your routine and stay motivated! I recently joined my local Equinox gym, and I’m absolutely obsessed! Gotta get summer beach body ready, am I right?!

Drink lots of water! I try to drink at least a gallon a day, and I notice a huge difference from drinking lots of water. Benefits I’ve experienced are, flatter tummy, healthy skin, energy and appetite control. I mean, our bodies are mostly made of water, so shouldn’t we try to drink lots of it? 😛

Fun Tip Friday: Tips for Healthy Skin

This weeks fun tip is about your skin!

My tips are usually based around our skin, and that is because having healthy skin  is important and it boosts confidence! I’m going to share a few tips that I have learned throughout the years that seem to help. 🙂

Tip 1:
Always wash your face in the morning and night. Do not sleep in your makeup ever! If you had a long night and are too lazy to wash your face with a cleanser, at least use a face wipe. I have learned from past experience that going to bed without washing your face can easily cause a breakout in the morning.

Tip 2:
Allow each serum to completely set before applying another. For my daily skin care routine I use a lot of different items. So if you apply multiple serums make sure to let each individual serum sit on your skin for at least a full minute before applying your moisturizer or another serum. This allows your skin to absorb more of the good stuff.

Tip 3:
Use a serum! If you do not use a serum, you should! They are great ways to target specific problem areas with your skin. I believe the serum is one of the most important parts to my skincare routine. I tend to use a brightening serum to reduce any discoloration on my skin. But they have serums to target any problem you may have with your skin.

Tip 4:
Everyone knows this, but always wear a SPF. I use SPF15 every single day, wether I am going to be outside or not. I have a fairly darker skin complexion so I tend to use a lower SPF, but any bit helps! Wearing SPF will help protect your fragile skin from the sun, and It helps protect your skin from aging as fast. ( I luckily do not have that problem yet)

I hope you found these tips helpful! I know a few may be some pretty common things heard around the beauty world, but they really do make a difference!

Skin Saver

It is important that we are taking good care of our skin. Good skin = confidence. People should not rely on makeup to feel confident about themselves. But if you have blemish prone skin, it can lead people to feel like they need makeup to cover it up.
I am always looking to try new skin products and this week I invested in Rose Hip Seed Oil. I found mine at a Marshalls in the skin department and I have been loving it so far.

I have normal to oily skin, so putting oil on you skin might seem a little scary. But I honestly can’t even tell its on my skin, as long and you don’t overload on oil.
I have had a little breakout this week, and this little guy have been saving my skin!

I highly recommend trying some!

I am a girl who loves trying new skin care products, especially face masks.

And I have found two exceptionally great facial masks that I’ve incorporated into my skin routine for the past couple of months, and I have noticed a HUGE difference!

The first facial mask was one I picked up at a Hand and Stone spa, the Rehab Mediterranean Detoxifying Mud Mask.

This mask is very strong, so I usually do not cover my whole face but rather I use it like a spot treatment. If I am having a few problem areas, I use this mask on the particular spot, once a day for ten minutes. After a few days the problem has completely disappeared! This product was $25, but since I use it more like a spot treatment, this could last for around 6 months.

This next mask is one a few of you may be familiar with as it is one of The Body Shop’s top rated items. This tea tree face mask has such an amazing cooling effect on the skin and visibly reduces any redness on my skin instantly. I use this mask about twice a week, as it is perfect for those hot summer days when you want to cool down and relax.

I actually found out about this mask after purchasing a sample pack from the counter at Sephora. I love picking up a few small sample packs every time I stop by. It is a quick and cheap way to test out a product before deciding to purchase it.
