Everything You Need to Know About Microblading

I’m sure most of you have heard about micro blading by now, a technique used to make your brows look naturally fuller and shaped, without having to fill them in!

Microblading defined is “ a form of semi-permanent makeup that provides a means to partially or fully camouflage missing eyebrow hair with the appearance of simulated hair using fine deposits of cosmetic tattoo pigments.”

I’ve been hesitant to try Microblading, because I heard of stories where the eyebrows ended up looking like a mess, or was under the impression it would be painful. And boy was I wrong!

A couple of months ago I spoke with Anna, from Perfect Brows by Anna, and she walked me through the process and what to expect. I was still hesitant on the procedure and gave myself several weeks to decide wether or not I wanted to try. Never having to fill in my brows again was a dream come true! After following Anna and seeing the amazing work she did, I decided I would give it a go. And boy am I pleased with the results!

I shared my experience on my Instagram and so many of my lovely followers were impressed and amazed at the job Anna did. I had so many questions about the procedure that I wanted to make a full post talking all about Microblading.

What to expect

The procedure took about an hour and a half. Time may vary depending on how much strokes need to be put in your brow to create the proper shape. Every brow and every person is different, but the hour and a half it took me flew by. I will also be going in for my touch up, a month after the initial treatment.

The pain is very minimal. I was expecting it to feel more like when you get your brows threaded or tweezed, but it was honestly even less painful then both. Anna does not use numbing cream because it causes the skin to get soft and mushy which can lead to the technician creating too deep of strokes which may lead to scarring or other unwanted outcomes. I also did not bleed.

How it works. Anna used a very very small utensil that has 18 or 19 tiny little needles used to scratch and place pigment into the skin.

The sound. There is a Velcro like sound during the process. The sound comes from your eyebrow hair gliding between the tiny needles and also the sound of your skin being scratched.

Final Thoughts

I am so so so pleased with the work Anna did, and I would highly recommend her to anyone looking to get their brows done. The process was much easier than I anticipated and there was hardly any pain at all. After working with Anna, I do not think there is another technician out there who I would feel comfortable with. Her work was superb and I’m so excited with my new brows! Check her out here.

Red in the City

Not sure if you can tell… But red is my favorite color, and this red Lilac and Lilies dress was one of the most flattering pieces I wore during my NYFW events. And it perfectly paired with the Frida Kahlo purse, which I received endless compliments on.

Reel Skipper

Reel Skipper has finally launched their Spring/Summer 2018 collection and I am obsessed! I was lucky enough to work with the amazing gals behind the brand and shoot their look book for this collection, and instantly fell in love with the pieces! My absolute favorite from the collection are the striped swim bottoms “Flamingo Beach” and striped shorts “Biscayne Water Shorts.”

The Big City

This night in NYC was a particularly freezing one, that my Miami blood was not prepared for. But that aside, we watched one of the most entertaining fashion shows, the YEROC by Corey Woods. The pieces were fantastic and the performance was one for the books.

We found another amazing vegan restaurant, that I wish would make its way down South. Blossoms, was my all time favorite restaurant for the trip, the full menu was vegan and their Truffle, Mushroom Pizza was insanely delicious!

My look for this nights show was one of my favorite pieces from Lilac and Lilies Boutique, in Fort Lauderdale Florida, this flattering white dress. Paired with our Livin’ the MAD Life “Winter Sparkle” tote.

SOHO

Our trip for New York Fashion Week was nothing less than wonderful. We tried some amazing vegan foods, enjoyed stunning runway shows and explored parts of the city that we have never been to.

This day was my Zara look, I wanted something fun and classy, but wearable. Which is why I went with a chunky heeled bootie, to carry me around the city for a full day.

We spent most of the day in SoHo, aka South of Houston rd., and it was the most charming little space! We stopped by Bulletin.Co, a female empowering, pink wonder world, that needs to be experienced at least once! And we ate at By.CHLOE for breakfast and lunch! It’s so nice having full vegan restaurants at the tip of your fingers, it makes ordering much more simple! blog2

Frida Kahlo Collection | Livin’ the MAD Life

As some of you know, my mother and I recently started a designer bag and purse brand in January 2018. And today marks another amazing day for our company, Livin’ the MAD Life, we have launched a new capsule collection, inspired by the amazing Frida Kahlo!

We wanted to create a capsule collection focused solely on the importance of empowering women. In today’s society we have an incredible movement for female empowerment and we want to do as much as we can to fuel the fire, for women around the globe. We wanted to choose someone who was seen as a strong women from history, whether past or present, who epitomized strength, grace and inspiration. Someone who didn’t take no for an answer and gave society inspirational goals and a “can do” attitude, not letting anything hold them back. A “warrior” who fought the battle for feminism and misogyny and forged an easier path for all of us to continue to make headway towards equality. That is why we have decided to create a capsule collection around the ever inspiring, Frida Kahlo. She is one of the most inspirational artists for women, a woman who endured so much in her life and yet willingly shared her pain and how she overcame and dealt with the struggles through her art and life.

Check out our full collection here .
