My Transformation

Transformations physically, mentally and most importantly… for this blog.

It’s been quite a hot minute since I’ve dabbled in the blogging world, but I am making a conscious effort to start it back up, and this time with a lot more thought and meaning behind each post. Bye to the days of meaningless outfit posts and hello to what really goes on in this interesting world I live in. Of course, I may throw in a few outfits that I can’t help but share. But I’ve always had a passion for writing and I love being able to put some more personality into my blogging.

Which leads me into my first post, and one that I never imagined I would be making. As you may know, I’ve lived in Miami for about 3 years now and I would not want to live anywhere else. But of course, living in Miami, it’s easy to get drawn into the unrealistic beauty standards. I’ve never had any major insecurities about my looks or even had a thought cross my mind about plastic surgery or physical alterations of any sort. Perhaps a little tattoo or piercing, but I was even skeptical of those. Until… I ended up working for an extremely talented plastic surgeon here in Miami, Dr. Rian Maercks. How I ended up there is an interesting story in itself, but today I just want to share my transformation, because I think it’s pretty darn amazing.

Whenever we typically think of filler, we think of big duck lips and giant, overfilled chipmunk cheeks, which I personally do not find attractive. Quickly after spending a few weeks at this new job of mine, it was clear that what Dr. Rian A. Maercks was doing, with filler, was a completely different story. We would have gorgeous supermodels walk through our doors, looking perfect, and end up leaving even more perfect. He likes to use the phrase “unlocking your inner beauty” which is the perfect way to describe it.

(Sidenote: I feel compelled to say that I did not have any push or outside reasons for sharing this story, besides the fact that I think I look dope AF and find this sort of stuff interesting. k thanks.)

So let’s just go ahead and fast forward some months later, after 21 syringes/CC’s/ml’s of hyaluronic acid filler, in my face, later. Woahhhh 21! Yeah, it’s a lot of filler compared to pretty much everyone else in the world, but the magician, aka Dr. Maercks, has the most crazy, artistic and amazing technique, that requires a buttload more volume, to give you a very natural result. Okay, you can read about it here, because I just want to get to the fun part already, the before and afters!

All of these photos are completely unfiltered/unaltered in any way. In both before and after I am wearing no makeup, I am in the same room and taken with the same camera. And you’ll for sure notice my hormonal acne was cured, also thanks to Dr. Maercks and his acne protocol

So let’s do a kind of breakdown of sorts, although these numbers are estimates.

My eyes, nose, lips, and chin all have filler.

My eyes and temples have about 10CC’s of filler in total (5CCs each side) this removed my undereye bags, filled in the hollow of my temples, lifted my brows, lifted my cheeks, thinned the appearance of my face and took away from the heaviness of my cheeks.

My nose has around 5CCs of filler in total. He made my nose longer, to fit my face better, made it more straight, boosted out the base to give me more tip projection, and hide my nasal labial folds a little more. And he gave me a more pointed, lifted and overall cutest nose ever. (I’m totally obsessed with his liquid rhinoplasty’s, and am dying for more!)

My lips have about 4CCs in total. 2CCs were injected into the pink of my lips (per my request) for bigger, juicier lips and the other 2CCS were placed around the border of my lips and my cupids bow to blend it with the rest of my face.

My chin has about 2CCs of filler to boost out my chin and blend it with my lips and nose. This also disguised my little turkey gobbler a little more. (Also another thing I’m obsessed with.)

One common question is regarding pain and whether it hurts. First off, yes, there are needles being stuck into your face. But it’s honestly so painless, the only part that is a little more tender is the tip of the nose. Aside from that, your face actually gets super numb, it’s more of a weird feeling than pain. And recovery for me is very minimal, I do not swell that much and I hardly bruise, but others can have different experiences than mine of course.

Now after seeing all of the volume that was put in my face, one would think it would be obvious. But some of my friends and family still say they can’t really notice a difference. And my dad was never able to tell, until this blog post of course.

So this concludes my first blog post of 2019, a little late, but I’ll do my best to share more.

Recently I’ve been loving to add a watch to my looks, its a simple way to make your look more classy and sophisticated. And it’s a functional accessory!

I discovered JORD Watches and instantly fell in love with their brand, message and watches! JORD is known for their hand made, customizable wooden bands. When I tell you the packaging and watch smelled like it was take straight from the forest, I mean it!

I wanted to get a watch that would fit with my style, something not too small, but not too large and a metal that already matches the majority of jewelry I wear. So instantly the rose gold popped out to me! I find rose gold to be easy to style and the Koa wood band compliments the rose gold perfectly!

You can bet this watch is going to be making several appearances in my upcoming looks.

My watch is the Koa & Rose Gold from the CORA series. For each of the different woods used, JORD has created an amazing guide describing the wood and level of sustainability! You can see more here.

Koa is a finely ground golden wood, with rose tones. It is native to Hawaii and is their second most common tree, it is a flowering tree and is a part of the pea family! Koa means brave, bold, fearless and comes from the Hawaiian language.

Miami Swim

This year for Miami Swim Week I kept things a little more low key and only attending a few events that were hosted by my close friends. One of said events was a pop-up at Moreno’s Cuba Restaurant in South Beach, hosted by Bikini On Demand. Where four different designers were showcasing their newest swimwear pieces.

Of course I couldn’t go to the event without sporting my new favorite look from Lilac and Lilies Boutique. The same boutique that styled by New York Fashion Week trip! And I have to say, these pants are some of my new favorites!

Chotto Matte

You guys, I think I’ve found my new favorite restaurant! Chotto Matte, off Lincoln Road Mall in South Beach. It’s a little hidden and off the main path, but once I stepped inside it was like walking into a whole different area. The design and decor inside is stunning, and the food was even better! If you’re into exotic cocktails and a contemporary sushi experience, Chotto Matte is right up your ally. I dined on their vegetarian bento box and the food it was phenomenal, already planning my next reservation asap!

Everything You Need to Know About Microblading

I’m sure most of you have heard about micro blading by now, a technique used to make your brows look naturally fuller and shaped, without having to fill them in!

Microblading defined is “ a form of semi-permanent makeup that provides a means to partially or fully camouflage missing eyebrow hair with the appearance of simulated hair using fine deposits of cosmetic tattoo pigments.”

I’ve been hesitant to try Microblading, because I heard of stories where the eyebrows ended up looking like a mess, or was under the impression it would be painful. And boy was I wrong!

A couple of months ago I spoke with Anna, from Perfect Brows by Anna, and she walked me through the process and what to expect. I was still hesitant on the procedure and gave myself several weeks to decide wether or not I wanted to try. Never having to fill in my brows again was a dream come true! After following Anna and seeing the amazing work she did, I decided I would give it a go. And boy am I pleased with the results!

I shared my experience on my Instagram and so many of my lovely followers were impressed and amazed at the job Anna did. I had so many questions about the procedure that I wanted to make a full post talking all about Microblading.

What to expect

The procedure took about an hour and a half. Time may vary depending on how much strokes need to be put in your brow to create the proper shape. Every brow and every person is different, but the hour and a half it took me flew by. I will also be going in for my touch up, a month after the initial treatment.

The pain is very minimal. I was expecting it to feel more like when you get your brows threaded or tweezed, but it was honestly even less painful then both. Anna does not use numbing cream because it causes the skin to get soft and mushy which can lead to the technician creating too deep of strokes which may lead to scarring or other unwanted outcomes. I also did not bleed.

How it works. Anna used a very very small utensil that has 18 or 19 tiny little needles used to scratch and place pigment into the skin.

The sound. There is a Velcro like sound during the process. The sound comes from your eyebrow hair gliding between the tiny needles and also the sound of your skin being scratched.

Final Thoughts

I am so so so pleased with the work Anna did, and I would highly recommend her to anyone looking to get their brows done. The process was much easier than I anticipated and there was hardly any pain at all. After working with Anna, I do not think there is another technician out there who I would feel comfortable with. Her work was superb and I’m so excited with my new brows! Check her out here.

Check out Anna on Instagram and her site.
