Another one of my all time favorite breakfasts and especially perfect for fall, a pumpkin banana smoothie! Even if you are not a huge fan of pumpkin you should give it a try, the pumpkin flavor is not to overwhelming, its the perfect balance! Yummmm
I usually try to put a few healthy additives in my smoothie to make it more nutritional, but the only required ingredients are the pumpkin, banana, milk, and honey. You can also change the amount of food you use depending on how much you want. The amounts I listed make a large smoothie, which I usually substitute for a whole meal and it super filling.
I use my nutribullet to make my smoothie, so I usually drink my smoothie from the blender cup provided, but you can add it in another cup to make it a little more presentable, or to save some for later. 🙂
- half a can of 100% pumpkin puree
- 2 bananas
- 2 cups of almond milk
- 1 tbsp of honey
- 1 tbsp of shredded coconut
- 2 tbsp of chia seeds
- 1 tbsp of flax seeds
- 1/2 tsp of maca powder
- handful of ice
Enjoy and let me know how it tasted!
As a full time college student I am short on time, so cooking full out meals is not really an option for most days. This year was the first year I found myself having a full kitchen while at school so I have had to learn to fend for myself and go grocery shopping. It is great being able to make your own foods, but somedays you just do not have the time and patience, or even skill, to make a home cooked meal.
My breakfasts are usually quick and easy, and I try to get in a nice hearty meal for breakfast to fuel me for my long day.
A recent new favorite breakfast of mine involves NO COOKING at all, which is great and quick! If you happen to just be an atrocious cooker and even burn your toast, than the toasted bagel may not be an option for you. ;P
Toasted Thin Bagel with Cream Cheese
Since moving into an apartment with a full size kitchen I have been making most of my meals from scratch! But as a college student, you don’t have as many options for food, especially if you are a novice cooker like myself.
I have found myself already getting bored with my food choice, so I decided to mix up my breakfast a bit and try experimenting with different fruits and veggies to find yummy smoothies!
This morning I added in some greens, which I usually do not do, unless I know it will taste good. Unfortunately this smoothie was not one of my favorites, but I would still make it again if the only things left in my fridge were these items.
Spinach & Kale
Chia Seeds & Camu Powder (for extra nutrients)
I am loving my blue mason jar cups! Aren’t they adorable?!
Staying active and healthy should not be a chore, but it sure seems like one. The gym can be so boring, and it seems so easy to lose motivation.
I have been an athlete for most of my life, so I have always had someone there motivating me and telling me what to do, but now that I no longer play any competitive sports, it’s hard. I tried the gym thing on my own, and it was soooo boring! So I have decided to skip the gym and do fun things to help stay in shape. I think the key to staying healthy and happy is to do the things that you enjoy! It will keep you motivated and wanting to stay active. I personally enjoy playing volleyball, so going out to the beach and playing with friends or going to an open gym and playing indoor is fun and keeps me active. I have also recently picked up roller blading. I am not very good right now, but practice makes close to perfect! I key to stay motivated while being healthy is to do things you love, do not make it a chore or your motivation will not last long. I hope you guys have a fun and active day! Get outside and do something you love!
Breakfast, the most important meal of the day!
I always make sure I start my day off with a nice big breakfast, and I like to be quick about it. Therefore, my breakfast meal is usually the same every morning. But I am still not tired of it!
If you want to find out how to make a delicious breakfast in just over a couple minutes then keep reading!
My Nature’s Path Oatmeal is by far my favorite. It only takes 75 seconds in the microwave and all you need is a 1/2 cup of water!
Once my oatmeal is done I take it out and add however much honey and cinnamon I am feeling. (Fun Fact: Use your local honey, it helps to build an immunity to some allergies in your area)
Mix it all up and add in your almonds and fruit!
I usually use blueberries, but I love to add banana and strawberry if I am out of blueberries.
Ahhh, the perfect quick and easy breakfast!
