Qua-routine

I know these past couple of months have thrown everyone of their regular routines, but I’ve been using this time to create a new and healthier routine. Meaning more working out, more walks with my dog, eating healthier foods and working on new projects!

My new found hobby during this time has been road biking! My mom has been an avid cyclist, mostly mountain biking, for years now. So I hopped on one of her bikes and have been loving it ever since!

She has this super cute cycle clothing line called MAD Shredders, so I just had to share! Fashion isn’t only for day to day activities, but it can be for exercise too!

Let’s Get Checked!

I’ve recently came across this company that offers at home testing kits called Let’s Get Checked. You literally choose the test you would like to take online, order and BOOM it’s sent straight to your front door within the next week.

I stick to a vegetarian diet and wanted to especially test my multi vitamin levels to make sure I’m properly receiving the necessary nutrients and vitamins, but I also wanted to test out the Iron and CRP (for inflammation) tests, just out of pure curiosity. I think this is a great way to keep track and monitor your health, and the process was so quick!

Now I’m not going to lie, taking the test itself is a bit intimidating, as it requires you to take a small blood sample to ship back to headquarters. Although intimidating, it was actually quite easy and simple once I got the hang of it. Once the collection was taken (during the optimal hours suggested on Lets Get Checked) I sent it back, in the ready to go envelope. My results were back within 5 days and I can easily access them online through their portal.

I think this is such a great way for people to get a quick test done without having to spend the time and extra money to go to the doctor. Especially during times where we are all trying to maintain our health, its important to know what’s going on inside and Let’s Get Checked helped me to do that!

I Saw a Therapist? (Professional Tips)

Therapy and counseling, are two words I’ve always felt carried a heavy weight. I have had the opinion that you must have a problem if you are seeking therapy and counseling. But after hearing a lot of my closest friends being fans of therapy, I started to change my perspective. After all, it’s not fair to judge something you’ve never tried yourself.

I figured now would be the perfect time to try out my first therapy session. Considering the crazy world we live in, due to the Coronavirus, I have been in my feelings a little more than usual. Thankfully, I’ve made a great routine and have adapted, so I’m feeling much better these last few days. But those first two weeks of quarantine were rough, and I know a lot of you are still going through some rough patches. Whether, you’re stuck at your place alone and are feeling the effects of loneliness, or you’re stuck with your significant other and trying not to rip your hair out, we are all feeling something.

 

I did some research and found Dr. Lisa Paz in Miami, Florida. She’s an individual and couples counseling professional as well as a clinical sex therapist, and I loved everything I saw about her. I browsed her social media and website and could tell she was fun and had a sense of humor, but really knew her stuff. So I set up my first session…

 

I was very nervous at first and thought I would leave the session thinking I was doing everything wrong. And it was the complete opposite! First off, Dr. Lisa made me feel so comfortable and I was surprised at how quickly we were able to get into our session over the phone call (social distancing*.) She made me feel like I could open up and share anything I had on my mind, and she had such an amazing insight into everything, that made me feel confident in her.

 

I had a couple of key things I wanted to discuss with Dr. Lisa that were really, very unique situations. And surprisingly Dr. Lisa understood exactly what I was talking about due to her extent education and experience in the field. This made me feel so much more understood, and by the end of the call I was feeling even better about EVERYTHING!

I can confidently say, I think therapy and counseling are a super great and healthy way to clear your head. Even being able to talk to someone and feel no judgment, no matter what you say, gives you a sense of freedom and lifts a weight off your chest, that you may have not even knew you had. Dr. Lisa Paz gave me an unbiased, professional and no judgment session that could not have gone any better. I think this experience was a great first step and therapy will definitely be a tool for me to always use if I ever start to feel down or unsure about a situation.

During this time of quarantine and social distancing, a lot of us have been working on our physical health, going for longer runs and walks than usual. But it’s even more important to put your mental health as a priority. It’s okay to want to talk to someone and it’s okay to see a counselor.

Au Natural

I am one to always reach for something natural, rather than synthetic, and this holds true for the products I use on my body.

And I am sure we all have that one product that we know may not be the most natural option, but it is the most effective. Therefore, when I find an amazing product that does just what I would want, I  have to share!

I’ve recently tried out a new shampoo and conditioner from a company called Ecolovista, and it has done wonders for my hair, noticeable even after the first use! The fact that the formula is all natural and made with water from the Alps & France, or that the bottle is made from bio degradable material, caught my attention, but the fact that  my hair felt so silky smooth and the frizz was tamed after, is the reason I am obsessed with it!

Biggest Beauty Secret

I am sure you have all heard of this amazing secret, that even the top of the top models swear by. It’s good for your skin, fitness and overall health. And it is one of the most important necessities for life. Have you figured it out yet?

It is water!

Yes water, we all need it, but most people don’t make it a habit to drink enough. I myself set a personal goal to finish, at minimum, one full gallon jug of water. I usually tend to go a little over a gallon. But boy when I don’t drink my gallon, if I’m super busy that day or travelling, I notice a huge difference in the way I feel, perform and look.

So if there was one thing I would recommend everyone to do, it would be to challenge yourself to drink a gallon of water a day, and you’ll see a huge difference within a week!

That being said, fall is upon us, and it is never to early to start working towards that summer bod. Rather than waiting till spring and feeling the need to workout excessively and track your foods.

With that in mind, I’ve found an amazing new water that is perfect for those days when you need an extra boost of energy, and a good way to fill that gallon up. It’s called 3 Water! I use it before my workout because there is some caffeine, which gives me a little pick me up. It’s Ph balanced, which is always my preferred choice of water, and of course it has tons of electrolytes! So why not switch things up a bit and try water that is ever better than regular water!

Perfect for pre workout, or a day by the pool! You can honestly never have enough water!

Fun tip: I use 3 water and mix it with my preworkout before, for an extra boost of energy!

Budder Me Up

I know we have all heard of the amazing benefits that coconut oil can have on your health, wether for your hair, skin, nails, teeth, seems like there’s a millions uses for coconut oil. And I’ll be the first to admit, I’m addicted. And when I found out about Oil Me North’s amazing coconut oil, hemp oil, essential oil, concoctions, I was all over it. Our skin is the largest organs on our body, so I thinks it’s important to take care of it! Especially if you’re in the sun all the time like myself.

One of my favorite things to use is essential oils, and to mix my two favorite oils into one, is a dream.

Oil Me North has several different concoctions targeted towards different things. Such as their Sun Budder, which enhances your tan and their Original Super Budder which is great for every use!

My absolute favorite Budders are the Original and the Muscle and Joint Budders.

Original Super Budder

This is one of my favorite Budders because it is great for so many uses. You can use it for problematic skin, or to nourish your body. And not to forget, the lavender and rose essential oils give it a fresh and relaxing scent. I love to have products that can be used for multiple functions, saves money and saves space! These Budders are also great to use as a natural and gentle makeup remover!

Muscle and Joint Budder

This is one of my other favorites because the oils, such as peppermint and eucalyptus have a cool and refreshing feel on the skin. The benefits of this budder are some of my favorite because it’s great for reducing inflammation, hence why it’s great to use after a workout if your muscle are sore and tired.

Healthy is Happy | Dr Smood

I had the pleasure of dining, with some fellow influencers from South Beach, at a charming and health conscious café called Dr Smood; along with our own personal nutritionist who walked us through some of their most popular menu items. That being said, I only thought it fair to share some of my favorite health tips that were mentioned during the luncheon!img_3686
First off, can we just admire the décor and interior of Dr Smood? It is definitely the perfect place to come for a healthy meal and chill out. This was the Wynwood, Miami location.

Tidbits!

  • Drinking lots of water is amazing for your body, but you should always try to drink Alkaline water as much as you can. Our nutritionist used a great example to explain the different between regular water and alkaline water. (So you have a shower, and it is constantly getting rinsed off whenever you are inside. But you still have to go in and clean your shower every now and then, even though its continuously getting rinsed. The same applies to your body, drinking water is good to help clean out your system, but drink alkaline water allows your body to flush out all the bad toxins.)
  • We all know moderation is key, and sometimes its hard to avoid that sweet treat. Don’t feel bad for indulging, just know how to treat your body after a cheat meal. For example, if you eat a yummy glazed doughnut, try to help your body digest the treat faster, by drinking a lot of water and liquids.
  • Chaga, is a great alternative to coffee, it gives you all the energy and helps your body to metabolism, but it is even better for you!
  • There is a difference between cacao, cocoa and chocolate. An item can not be labeled as cacao unless it is unadultured, raw cacao from the cacao tree. Chocolate on the other hand has been manipulated and has added ingredients that may not be as healthy. And cocoa is just a fancy way to say chocolate and can sometimes confuse people on whether its raw, healthy chocolate, or sugary refined chocolate.

My favorite item would have to be the Cold Pressed Vegan Mylk, Non-Dairy Chocolate Mylk. Tastes better than regular chocolate milk, but its full of healthy ingredients like brazil nut mylk, dates, cacao nibs, cacao powder, cinnamon and vanilla! Yumm

Fun Tip Friday: How to Fade Bruises

It seems as though people are always complaining about bruising easily, and no one ever likes the look of a gnarly purple and green spot glaring at them. So today I have brought you three amazing products to help your skin prevent bruises, as well as to diminish existing bruises.

1. First and foremost is my favorite holy grail product of all, Castor Oil! Not only is this
image1product amazing for getting rid of any existing bruises, but it also makes for a natural deep moisturizer and helps with any sore joints, muscles and even your digestion.  If  you have any existing bruises, just massage some Castor Oil onto the spot and within days it will had disappeared.

I also massage Castor Oil into my sore muscles and my stomach. It has great properties that absorb through your skin and help with digestion! I never skip out on my daily Castor Oil massages. 😛

2. Another product to help prevent bruises is Riboflavin vitamins or B2, which has amazing properties for helping with development of the skin. Just pop one of these vitamins everyday and you’ll notice a decrease in the amount of bumps and bruises your body collects.

3. Finally the last tip to prevent bruises, and probably the most strange way, is to eat the pith of an orange peel, or the white part inside the peel. The pith of an orange actually carries the most concentration of flavonoids in the fruit. It’s full of antioxidants and is one of the most nutritious parts of an orange. So next time you’re eating an orange, make sure to keep the peel and finish off the pith! Not only will it help your body to prevent bruising so easily, but the other benefits it has are amazing for your overall health!
