I’m sure most of you have heard about micro blading by now, a technique used to make your brows look naturally fuller and shaped, without having to fill them in!
Microblading defined is “… a form of semi-permanent makeup that provides a means to partially or fully camouflage missing eyebrow hair with the appearance of simulated hair using fine deposits of cosmetic tattoo pigments.”
I’ve been hesitant to try Microblading, because I heard of stories where the eyebrows ended up looking like a mess, or was under the impression it would be painful. And boy was I wrong!
A couple of months ago I spoke with Anna, from Perfect Brows by Anna, and she walked me through the process and what to expect. I was still hesitant on the procedure and gave myself several weeks to decide wether or not I wanted to try. Never having to fill in my brows again was a dream come true! After following Anna and seeing the amazing work she did, I decided I would give it a go. And boy am I pleased with the results!
I shared my experience on my Instagram and so many of my lovely followers were impressed and amazed at the job Anna did. I had so many questions about the procedure that I wanted to make a full post talking all about Microblading.
What to expect
The procedure took about an hour and a half. Time may vary depending on how much strokes need to be put in your brow to create the proper shape. Every brow and every person is different, but the hour and a half it took me flew by. I will also be going in for my touch up, a month after the initial treatment.
The pain is very minimal. I was expecting it to feel more like when you get your brows threaded or tweezed, but it was honestly even less painful then both. Anna does not use numbing cream because it causes the skin to get soft and mushy which can lead to the technician creating too deep of strokes which may lead to scarring or other unwanted outcomes. I also did not bleed.
How it works. Anna used a very very small utensil that has 18 or 19 tiny little needles used to scratch and place pigment into the skin.
The sound. There is a Velcro like sound during the process. The sound comes from your eyebrow hair gliding between the tiny needles and also the sound of your skin being scratched.
I am so so so pleased with the work Anna did, and I would highly recommend her to anyone looking to get their brows done. The process was much easier than I anticipated and there was hardly any pain at all. After working with Anna, I do not think there is another technician out there who I would feel comfortable with. Her work was superb and I’m so excited with my new brows! Check her out here.
